ARCADE’s mission is to host an inclusive and insightful dialogue on the designed environment. We do this through our print and digital publications, and our community programming. ARCADE’s vision is to expand the idea that design at every scale of human endeavor impacts our quality of life.
ARCADE’s print journal was founded in 1981 in Seattle, Washington and is a cornerstone of dialogue on architecture, design, and the built environment. Our print journal directly fulfills the mission and values of ARCADE as a 501c3 non-profit and is locally distributed across the Seattle area. For past issue references, you can find ARCADE’s print journal archive on our website here.

Open Submissions Coming Soon!

arc. is our digital feed covering art and design-related events, exhibitions and projects in the PNW and beyond. We publish timely articles on a rolling basis so that we can best promote current projects and better serve the communities that have historically shaped ARCADE: architects, designers and proponents of the built environment.

We will be looking for critical discourse on art, architecture and design in the PNW and beyond in the form of profiles, news articles, feature stories, opinion pieces, book reviews, Q&A’s and photo essays. ARC is not accepting written essays at this time.

Check back with us end of May 2025. In the meantime, you can keep up to date by subscribing to our newsletter or following us @arcade_nw

ARCADE now accepts submissions across three distinct publications, ARC., Tangible, and our bi-annual print journal, which hinges on a different concept for each publication.

While each of ARCADE’s publications have their own unique voice, all encompass our editorial standards and guidelines and focus on critical discourse around design, architecture, and the built environment.

We center students, professionals, and art and design enthusiasts thinking critically about the built environment, issues of design, and all creative endeavors.

ARCADE is based in Seattle, WA and run by a small but mighty team of three editors. There are multiple ways to further engage with us including but not limited to our Architecture and Design Community Advisory Committee. For more information please visit our "opportunities" page.
Please be aware of which publication you are submitting to and follow the appropriate additional guidelines related to your specific submission.
