Put on by Elliott Bay Book Company, Seattle Art Museum
Renowned art historian and critic Hal Foster speaks about his new book, Conversations About Sculpture (Yale University Press), which draws on talks over a 15-year period between Foster and celebrated sculptor Richard Serra—whose work, Wake, is an iconic landmark at the Olympic Sculpture Park. Conversations about Sculpture is both an intimate look at Serra’s life and work, with candid reflections on personal moments of discovery, and a provocative examination of sculptural form from antiquity to today. Hal Foster appears in conversation is his longtime friend and SAM trustee, Charlie Wright. Be sure to visit Wake before and after the program for a unique viewing of the sculpture at night.
Co-presented with the Seattle Art Museum.
