Put on by Goethe Pop Up Seattle
2019 marks the 100th anniversary of Bauhaus design and to celebrate, the Seattle Goethe Institut Pop Up hosts a Virtual Reality Bauhaus Exhibition starting March 14th and lasting until July 31. In spirit of the Bauhaus, the project uses innovative technology that allows viewers to experience Bauhaus first-hand and be transported into the architectural space of the Bauhaus building as it existed in the 1920s. Put on the VR glasses and explore the school’s central ideas through encounters with its architectural interior, inhabit the dormitories where students lived and worked, engage with an experimental performance in the stage workshop, and ascend the building’s iconic staircase.
The special commemoration is being hosted in partnership with the Goethe Institut as a part of Wunderbar Together: A Year of German American Friendship, which was launched to celebrate the close friendship and heritage between the countries through a series of traditional German cultural events in all 50 states throughout the year.
