Lloyd Herman, renowned American art and craft expert, presents a lecture titled American Glass Art, Nurtured in the Pacific Northwest exploring the history of the contemporary glass movement. The Pacific Northwest continues to be an international hub for glass art, and BAM’s 2018 Biennial: BAM! Glasstastic celebrates the quality and variety of artists working in this region. View the exhibition and then join us for this special lecture.

Lloyd Herman was the founding Director of the national craft gallery, the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, 1971–86, and was succeeded by former BAM Director Michael Monroe.  Lloyd wrote the first published history of the Pilchuck Glass School, Clearly Art: Pilchuck’s Glass Legacy, in conjunction with a traveling exhibition of the same title.  The University of Washington Press called him “one of the foremost authorities on America’s contemporary craft movement.”
