The architectural achievements of the Muslim rulers of the Deccan region of peninsular India are among the most impressive and gorgeously decorated buildings anywhere in the Muslim world. They testify to the wealth of the Deccan sultans of Bijapur and Golconda-Hyderabad, and the cultural refinements of their courts in the 16th and 17th centuries. Presenter George Michell, renowned historian of Indian architecture, will introduce highlights from these two kingdoms, illustrated with commissioned photographs by Antonio Martinelli.
