A close-up of a page from ARCADE

ARCADE is collaborating with Hugo House to develop a design criticism writing workshop, the first of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. We seek writing instructors with experience in design or a design-related field (such as architecture, product design, graphic design, or interior design) and experience in design criticism who are interested in teaching a writing workshop. Workshop length and curriculum to be developed with the instructor.

Instructors are contracted for individual classes. To apply, please submit the following by October 15:

• Your CV
• A one-page statement of your teaching philosophy
• One or two sample course descriptions (no more than one page each)
• A sample of your own written work of design criticism

Please send materials in a single Word or PDF document via email to [email protected] with “ARCADE / Hugo House” in the subject line.

When hiring instructors, Hugo House considers a combination of prior teaching experience, publication history, strength of the submitted teaching philosophy, and active engagement in the literary and/or design world.
